    Dear Guest,

You do not have to complete M.Phil to apply for lecturer's jobs. Instead, you are required to clear the "National Eligibility Test"(NET), in order to qualify for the same. The eligibility criteria for this test is :

Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Masterís Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test.

On the other hand, if you decide to do you Ph.D and clear it, then according to the decision taken by the UGC in it's 489th meeting, you shall be exempt from NET eligibility and shall be considered for appointment as lecturer.

Now for your second query regarding bio-chemists in the pharma industry. Are you aware that the pharma industry is spending billions of Rupees in R&D every year. This is money that the companies want to spend sensibly, to develop new formulations. A job that only a biochemist can perform. So, your notion that preference is being given only to chemists, is misplaced.
