because you are still in your first year only . so, if going on thinking about job , then you may loose comcentration on studies .

so, please concentrate on your studies now .
get a minimum of 65% in b.tech .

in final year , write gate exam and ger a good rank .
with gate rank as basis , there are many core companies which will recruit you .

No other department is having such a benefits like ECE department.Because the ECE graduates are eligible for all type of jobs but the other department graduates is not eligible for ECE based companies.

For cracking the job ECE graduate should have the 60% aggregate in academics and well technical knowledge ( like electronic devices ,signals and system ,embedded systems ,VLSI ,digital signal processing etc ).And for government jobs ECE graduate should not exceed the age 21 - 30 years..

Which job is better for ECE ? core or it companies?

Hey pal,
There is a lot of scope for the students of ECE and that is why we call it an evergreen branch of engineering.

Myself being a student of ECE(final year), I know that the course of ECE is really very tough. You have to work very hard and must b sincere with your your studies to get good results. Many students start really well in their 1st year, but as they move into the core, they find it really very tough. Though it is not easy, but you can score well, if you are sincere.

Coming to the scope of it, you get get a job in any sector through ECE. If you want, you can join some core company or even IT sector company. Even DRDO recruits ECE candidates. You can get into the defence field or any other field of your liking. My advice to you is that, you work hard now, study sincerely, maintain a good result and you easily get into a company of you liking.

I would also advice you to complete your M.Tech, as this will enhance your scope of a strong career.
