    Coast Guard Yantriks (Technical Sailors) Examination

    Coast guards are a particular department of the armed force that has the responsibility to guard the frontiers of the seas of our country and the adjoining coast line. A career in this organization is considered very prestigious and respectful job in the society. It is also very difficult to get into this profession and the candidates have to clear many stages involved in recruitment. The Indian Coast Guard came into existence in the year 1978. The primary aim of the organization was to provide protection to the wide coast line of the country.

    Coast Guard Yantriks Examination is the competitive entrance examination conducted by the organization. It is held in the country for the selection of eligible candidates for the post of Coast Guard Yantriks or Technical Sailors. This examination is carried out all across the country in eight major cities. The selected candidates will obtain training for duration of 20 weeks with Indian Navy at INS followed by another 8 weeks of float training and 30 weeks Professional training.

    Structure and Pattern of Coast Guard Yantriks (Technical Sailors) Examination

    The recruitment process for the post of Coast Guard Yantriks consists of three stages written test, personal interview and finally a physical and medical test. The written test is generally held in the country every year in the month of April or October. From the applications send by the interested candidates, the eligible candidates will be short listed for this written test. This examination may include objective type questions. The syllabus for the test will be prescribed by the organization in the notification. Those candidates who clear this written test will get selected for the next stage, the personal interview. However final selection is based on the overall performance of the students in all the stages of recruitment.

    Qualification Criteria for Coast Guard Yantriks (Technical Sailors) Examination

    All applicants should fulfill certain qualification and eligibility conditions as per the norms of Indian Coast Guard to attend this examination. Applicants should be in the age group of 18 to 22 years at the time of the test. They must also have a Diploma in any engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering. They should have got this qualification from a recognized institution. The candidates from the deprived category will be granted relaxation for the upper age limit. These students should also satisfy the following physical standards.

    Minimum height: The minimum height of candidates should not be less than 157cm.
    Weight: The weight of applicants should be in proportion to their weight and age.
    Chest: The chest should be developed with at least 5cm expansion.
    Eye sight: For good eye it should be 6/12 and for worst eye it should be 6/24.
    Health: Candidates must be free from all kinds of communicable diseases or any deformities.

    Application Procedure of Coast Guard Yantriks (Technical Sailors) Examination

    The notification for the post of Coast Guard Yantriks (Technical Sailors) will be published two times annually in employment news and all other important newspapers. Candidates must send the application form in the prescribed format in order to appear for the exam. It can be either handwritten or typed on A4 size white paper. They can also download it from the official website of the Indian Coast Guard.
