    Dear Guest,

In response to the first point. It is not true that there is no scope for Database. With the requisite skills in ORACLE, SQL etc. there is no shortage of jobs for Database Specialists. You could specialize in one of the following.

    Database Design
    Database Management
    Database Administration

You could also get certifications like :

Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA). Trained on SQL Server 2000
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Data Platform
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Business Intelligence

All these add up to a very impressive resume and get you to the top of the list of job seekers.

Now coming to JAVA, I agree that opportunities in terms of number are much larger than those for Database Professionals. The reason for this being that JAVA is used in almost everything that is run today. It is designed to run in the internet environment and is platform independent. We use JAVA to play games, play audio and video, online banking and shopping, develop mobile applications etc.

With such a large usage base, it is obvious that there have to be enough people around who could write the requisite coding for these applications. Hence the huge demand for professionals who can write programs in JAVA.

Given both the scenarios, I think you shall make the best decision that suits you. Best of luck.
