Sample papers are not available in the net syllabus for KAS 2012 exam:
There are two papers in KAS (prelims)exam.
Each paper consist two parts
Paper I:
part I: national /International/ current affairs
Part II: Humanities/srts/history
Ppaer II:
Part I: general knowledge
partr II: science & technology , environment & ecology
KAS mains exam pattern :
It is a descriptive paper
It consist total 8 papers.

Jammu and Kashmir PSC conducts the KAS examination every year. Its preliminary exam is just held on 14 nov. few days before. So you have to wait till next year for next kas examination. You can get the study material for Kas exam anywhere in india from a registered competitive examination book shop. KAS exam syllabus is very much similar to IAS You can also get coaching for this examination at anywhere from a reputed IAS coaching center. For more info please visit

KAS is an examination conducted by J&K PSC every year.
There are no online sample papers available on the net but still you can search some content for your help on the j&K PAC website.
A part from this some of the basic things that you have to prepare are:
Current Affairs
GK
Sociology
Mathematics Elementary
English
You should also visit UPSC website for same.
You must read LUCENT GK book for GK paper.

As the syllabus has been altered for this year KAS exam,It is difficult to predict what will be the question paper level.
The model papers are not available any where.Neither in any books nor on the internet according to the new syllabus.

Agriculture
Botany
Chemistry
Civil engineering
commerce
econimics
Geography etc
There is obvious advantage in choosing from your own subjects of graduation and post graduation.
The compulsory papers: Kannada and english
PART B consist 4 papers:
English
General studies on state level
General studies on National level
Prepare general studies from on or two standard general studies guides. In addition, please read atleast two reputed national english daily newspapers and two from state everyday.

There are two set of papers for KAS i.e., Prelims and mains...

Prelims pattern:
Two papers and each paper has 2 sections:
Paper-1
Section I: national and International current affairsSection II: Humanities, history

Paper-2
Section I: general knowledge
Section II: environment, science & tech, & ecology

mains exam pattern:
Descriptive paper consisting a total of 8 papers.
