    Hi

following information will be of help to you :-

IBPS conducts banking exams ( CWE ) for PO positions every 6 months , the next exam is in sep 2012 for PO. go and visit IBPS website and find all info.
there is a common set of pattern which is followed by all banks . they ask questions on :
    1) quantitative aptitude - class 10th and 12th maths
    2) reasoning - Refer to R S Agarwal
    3) basic engish
    4) current affairs - Pratiyogita Darpan + newspapers
    5) computer knowledge - basic level
    6) marketing knowledge ( optional)

you need to start working on these areas. if you are really interested then you should go and purchase 2 question bank for bank exams " and start practising on it.
you have to be very careful while answering questions because in 90% of bank written exams negative marking is there
plus you have to take care of your speed because there is limited time and lot many questions.
age group should be between 21 to 30 years with atleast 55% marks in aggregate in graduation.

At the same time you can apply for banks like SBI which conduct separate exams and do not come under IBPS.
similarly you can apply for private banks like ICICI , HSBC , CITIBANK etc . try to find their websites on google and visit their recruitment page and apply.

    all the best.

Re: Requirements for bank jobs and what is the syllabus of it?

See as there are various post in the banking sector hence for every section of job rather be it the HR side or be it the PO or executive side you have to prepare for it in a specific manner. Generally the elligibility crietaria , syllabus and pattern for the qualifying exams as to get qualified for a good designated post in this sector doesn't vary much and is almost the same for different banks of both the sector. So to be elligible for the posting in banking sector you should have a graduation degree from nay recognised instituiton or university. Along with this the upper age limit for the candidate is at most 30 years. and you should have an average of 60% percentile in all through your acadmic carrier A person having an MBA degree is desirable by the banking recruiting authority. To prepare for the banking sector exams you can look forward to solve the previous year exam questions as this would give you an idea about the question and it's pattern that are usually asked in the exam. You could also join any coaching institute as to get the correct guidance. Generally the question in the exam are from accounts side, maths, general english side, current affairs, reasoning .

    Bank Exam preparation

Requirements of bank exams in different category like age, educational criteria etc will differ according to the post to which you are applying. Bank exams are conducted by different banks on the basis of there job vacancies.

At first, there were different bank exams conducted by individual banks for the different designations. Ibps was introduced to make it as a common platform for most of the banking jobs.

    IBPS exam for Banks

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts the IBPS exam for the regional banks across the country. This will help the candidates to prepare for most of the job vacancies across the country.

Probationary officer and clerk designations are filled through the IBPS exam. The next exam was not yet scheduled.but it is expected to be scheduled during the month if december or january.

    IBPS preparation

A basic graduation is considered as the selection qualification for the exam. You can start preparing for the exams. There are different bank coaching centres around us. Most of the coaching centres are asking for a fees of around twenty thousand rupees for the bank exam coaching.

You can also prepare yourself for the exams. There are some good books available in the market which will help you for preparing in the IBPS exam. The coaching will last for almost six months.

Re: Requirements for bank jobs and what is the syllabus of it?

    hi
    wanna be in bank....good choice
for clercial jobs, first of all you have to clear your 12/intermediate exams with 60% marks.(yes, there is some age relaxation, based on your religion and caste).
second, your age limit is 18 years(minimum)- no relaxation in this
24-30 years(maximum)- relaxations depending upon religion & caste[different for different banks]
third & the last one is your will which means a lot!
    syllabus
    1.Maths-upto matriculation level [prefer toR S AGGRAWAL(S.CHAND)]
2.Verbal reasoning-remember this is a score gaining part of the syllabus(work hard on it...believe me its really very simple) again I suggest[R S AGGRAWAL(S. CHAND)]
3.GK- cultivate the habbit of reading news papers. this will slowly built up your general awareness. (basically, gather knowledge about banks)
pratiyogita darpan also helps u a lot, bt in starting try to avoid it.
    same suggestion for competition success.
4.English- if you basics are strong. then just go for practising sets [books-ENGLISH IMPROVEMENT COURSE(DHILLON GROUP OF PUBLICATIONS)this is really very helpful..believe me. Another one is MIRROR OF COMMON ERRORS(for practise only.....refer to it in last)]
And if you are weak at your basics then my advise is to first make your basics strong[complete OXFORD CURRENT ENGLISH TRANSLATION(GOOD MAN), and learn antonyms,synonyms,verb-forms,masc-faminine,etc likewise]
5.Computer- Don't worry its not too tough to learn computer...for me its a child left hand play..[refer to COMPUTER FUNDAMENTALS(PRADEEP K SINHA)]

BE PATIENT AND WORK HARD AND REMEMBER MY WORDS-

"SUCCESS HAS LESS TO DO WITH SPEED BUT MUCH WITH DIRECTION
    "
You can take help of any coaching institutes for your margdarshan, But don't forget "nothing can help more than your hard work" BEST OF LUCK
