Re: Is it required to clear Common Proficiency Test after cleaing B.Com qualification?

    Dear Guest,

No, since August 1' 2012, it is not mandatory to clear the CPT if you are a :

    1. Commerce Graduate with more than 55% marks from a recognized university
    2. Non-Commerce Graduate with more than 60% Marks
    3. Candidate who has passed the Intermediate Exam conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India or by the Institute of Company
    Secretaries of India.

The above mentioned candidates can also directly register for articleship without clearing IPCC Group 1.

Eligibility for CA : Senior Secondary Examination (10+2). Those awaiting 10+2 results can also apply. There is criteria of minimum marks.
Duration : It takes 3 to 4 years to complete the course, depending on the attempts you take to clear the papers. This includes the articleship period.

    I hope this information helps.

    • No, it's not required to clear Common Proficiency Test (CPT) after cleaing B.Com qualification.
    • You will get the direct entrance into next stage i.e IPC if you satisfy certain conditions.
    • In your graduation or post graduation degree in the stream of commerce you need to get minimum 55% marks in it from a recognised university
    • In your degree, you must have any of the three subjects such as Accounting, Auditing, Mercantile Laws, Corporate Laws, Economics, Management (including Financial Management), Taxation (including DirectTax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws), Costing, Business Administration or Management Accounting.
    • If you are from other stream students, you need to have 60% marks in graduation/post graduation.
