Re: Is it necessary to take seperate coaching for GATE and IES exam?

No ,Dear it is no necessary to do so.

Many coaching Institutes prepare students for both the exam at the same time.

The syllabus for both the exam is almost the same(For a particular branch) , so coaching Institutes each students for both the exam.

You can also prepare personally for both the exams.

Self studies are more effective than going for a coaching.

    >>>GATE score can also be used to fetch you job in many public sector companies.
But , you need to have a very high percentile.
Some of the PSU's Recruiting through GATE score are-BSNL
    BHEL
    NTPC
    IOCL
    SAIL
    Powergrid

You can refer the following books for the two exams-

    IES-

You can also get the previous year question papers of IES from the following link-

Dear Friend, You donít need separate coaching for GATE and IES exam even according to me you donít need coaching for GATE exam. You can prepare of your own. This exam does not requires much of the tactics. GATE exam has good technical papers and it needs good practice but intensive coaching is not required. You can take help of practice papers. If you can Practice well for your core subjects(i.e. the base subjects in your department) in your home with some good study material, then you can easily obtain a good rank in your GATE exams. You must practice the book for the GATE exams by G.K. Publishers.

Coaching is mainly required for IAS or IES as they have questions from GS which are a bit difficult and also the objective question patterns are very well illustrated in coaching classes..
It is not necessary to have coaching to crack GATE but take help of good practice materials.

One thing more IES include not only Gate syllabus but almost all the exams but make it a point that whether you join coaching or self study, practice the previous yearís papers of the concern exam that you are going to appear, so that you'll have an idea about the type of questions that are asked in different exams. The syllabus is same but the pattern of question paper, number and type of questions, time for exam, marking scheme etc all these vary from exam to exam.

GATE >>>>>>>>> Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering
It is post graduation course for engineers who aspire to pursue M.Tech/ M.E

    IES >>>>>>>>>> Indian Engineering Services
It is the entrance examinations for engineers who want to pursue the Class one engineering services in the Government Sector

Look Both the exams are quite tough and very difficult to crack

usually Students opt for Private coaching for these exams but if you think, you can take the preparation alone, you may well go for that.....But it Will be better if you take some EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONAL HELP/COACHING

It will help you to acquire necessary skills like time management, shortcut methods, preparation tests etc to crack the exam

however it is not neccessary if your preparation and syllabus is up to date ,but these coachings boost your potential and provide you a daily practice of latest questions which is beneficial in approaching the solution to a question.if you have oppurtunity ,you can join it.

Re: Is it necessary to take seperate coaching for GATE and IES exam?

    Hello..
I think you shouldn't take the two different coaching for GATE & IES. Because it would be simply the waste of time & money because you would fell a lot of interference during the study.

But you can take a single coaching center because the there is no certain difference in GATE & IES question papers.
In GATE all of the questions are MCQ type but in IES you have to attend a lot of Numerical problems with explanations i.e. some portion with descriptive type.
But the main thing is that you have to study i.e. the self study.

I am suggesting some good options:
You can take admission in good coaching institute like GATE ACADEMY, TARGET, GATEFORUM etc for both GATE as well as IES. They will provide you good study material & you have to follow their Guide

Make self study in house. It becomes the best efficient way which can make you well prepared. The primary/preliminary requirement for these exams is Practicing your technical study.
If you can Practice well for your core subjects(i.e. the base subjects in your department) in your home with some good study material, then you can easily obtain a good rank in your IES/GATE exams.

You must practice the book for the GATE exams by G.K. Publishers. & prepare the answers from your Text books in your Engineering study.
For Aptitude read Quantitative & Reasoning by R. S. Aggarwal & also Puzzle by Sakuntala Devi.
These are the main book ...through practicing this book you can easily manage good rank.Try to solve the question with the help of your text books for technical study & makes a number of evaluation.

Follow some Scheduling Study Pattern. This scheduling you can do according to your choice( Like in Morning of 1st two day of a week, you read an important paper,In Evening you read another paper....In this way You should make a scheduling for you efficient Study pattern for a week & repeat this).

If you can follow my guidelines a preparation of One month Study is enough to Crack the IES/GATE exams.

Good Wishes to you for your Best Preparation.
