Job scope for GATE qualified candidates with 89% percentile? Relevant job opportunities in Government sector?

hello sir/madam,

i'm a final year student of ECE with currently 57% marks in b.tech without any backlogs.

i recently cleared GATE with a percentile of 89.6 and gate score 338(21.33 marks) and i belong to SC category.

I want to know that what oppurtunities regarding job i have now in govt. sector due to clearing GATE and what should i do next because currently i have not applied for any job.

I would also like to know that will i be geting any stipend even if i dont go for post graduation. and if not then what are the conditions to get stipend.

Even as you are from SC category,still with your GATE score you will not get any calls from the PSUs which are recruiting through GATE.You should apply for other exams in govt sector or in other private sector companies.PSUs sets their individual cutoffs and that is much much higher than what you have secured.

Stipend is provided from MHRD and UGC.You will be getting stipend only if you have qualified and has crossed your cutoff marks and then you are pursuing M.Tech.There also if you do not clear any paper during any semester,then your stipend will be cancelled.

after compete your b.tech with the minimum 60% marks from any recognized university .
your trade from any one of them like mechnical engineering,electronics engineering,computer engineering,electrical engineering .

you have also qualify the GATE with good score .
then you can apply for the four government companies like:
BHEL
NTPC
ONGC
Power Grid etc...

these companies hire the students on the basis of GATE exam after qualify the gate exam they will conducted the own interview for check your confidence level,communication skill etc...

you said that , you are from sc category , but also you maynot get any call from the above said companies .
to get a call from the above companies , you have to get more marks in gate exam

as you are from sc category , you will have some relaxation in percentage in gate exam

it is better to appear for gate exam again , and secure more marks in the exam . then you will defintitely get a call from these core companies .

so, you have to face interview only in these companies .

First thing you need to remember is that you must be eligible to qualify before you could think of the other factors.

--> First of all i'm sorry because you might have relevant score and reservation, but you don't have enough % in graduation for applying for Govt jobs.
--> The companies participating in GATE to recruit students based on GATE score are IOCL, BHEL, NTPC, Power Grid.
--> All the companies has the cut off of minimum 65% in B.Tech/B.E.
--> So you have no chances of getting a job based on GATE score.
--> Now coming to stipend, stipend is given to students who are admitted into M.Tech through GATE rank.
--> Only students who are Admitted by GATE will be given 8000/- per month salary no others will be given such opportunity.

Since you have a good score it would be better for you to go ahead with PG instead of thinking various other options. Your SC reservation will fetch you a good college.

actually , you need to score morethan this .
because , with thispercentage you are not eligibke for core companies for interview round

as you mentioned that you belong to sc category , so, there is also no chance for you to get a call fom core companies .

if oyu have 60% in b.tech , then you are eligible for core companies entrance exams . but , oyu are not having 60% .
so , you are not eligile for entrance exams also

so, there is only one way for you to get a core companyy jobs

you have to secure a good gate rank ..

preprare well for the next time .
concentrate more on core subjetcs . definitely you will get a good gate rank .

Before you can think of other factors, First thing you need to remember is that you must be eligible to qualify.

1. Without reservation you don't have chance for applying for Govt jobs.
2. Your % in graduation is very less which doesn't allow you to apply for govt jobs.
3. Companies such as IOCL, BHEL, NTPC, Power Grid, has the cut off of minimum 65% in B.Tech/B.E.
4. So you have no chances of getting a job based on GATE score.

Without wasting your time it would be better for you to concentrate on other things such as joining M.Tech and successfully completing it.

if your GATE score is in 80s then you need to score more than that, but if you are getting the relaxation then you can apply in any psu. and any firm who consider theGATE score.

Dear Friend, As it would be difficult to tell you that which Govt sector will accept how much percentile for their selection. However, its a common analysis that candidates with at least 90+ percentile consider a good percentile. The company like Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Indian Oil) takes candidates directly on the basis of gate exam.you can find many such companies which considers the gate score in the selection procedure.,.for this you will have to search for such jobs in their official website, few of them are BARC, IIT, ONGC,DRDO

sir i have 31.33 gate score and 96%ile belongs to general category... i have not registered in any psus before gate. i don't want to do mtech,please tell me some companies which can recruit me on gate basis.

• i think its better for you to go for Mtech as you can double your job opportunities and definitely you will have a good job and great future
  
• ofcourse you dont want to go for higher studies but think once
  
• regarding stipend you will not get unless you join in Mtech
  
• one more option is i think you can do your post graduation in correspondence while doing job to get stipend
  
• coming to government jobs...........
  
• some gov sectors has previously announced to enroll with GATE numbers
  
• you have to apply before gate exam by enrolling your GATE roll number
  
• then you will get a call from those companies
  
• if you had already registered you will get an interview call as you have qualified in GATE exam

But you have only 57% of marks in your graduation
The core companies like
BHEL
BSNL
IOCL
ISRO
DRDO
ONGC
SAIL
GAIL

NFC etc are asking more than 60% of marks in their graduation and should have qualify GATE with good percentage
and friend this 21.33 marks is not at all good score to get job in these companies
For sc/st candidates also the companies are asking the cutoff marks of 60%
You better try for Private companies which only asks gate score
Better you try for these companies with your intermediate score

Sorry, you are not having any chances to get the job through this GATE score.

But, you may get admission in some good college to do your M.Tech.

If you join in any college on the Basis of GATE score, then definitely you will get a stipend of rs 8000/- per month.
