You can speak only if the panel is Tamil. How can you know that in a govt bank that is centrally organized, you will find your whole panels to be Tamil speaking? It is advisable to speak in either English or Hindi. The interview will not be any difficult. You can use simple terms. You can speak Tamil but you need to take permission from the interview panel first. You think yourself. Is it necessary that your interviewers will understand Tamil. They are employees of a govt bank. They may be from all over the country.

You will be called for an interview after passing the IBPS Clerk Exam. If you are through, you'll be placed at the banks according to the merit list. The location of posting could be anywhere in India. In the interview panel, there might be members from various background so you must avoid speaking your mother tongue and prefer English as language of communication.

Dear Friend, That will be totally depend on panel. Generally at the time of Interview, English language will be used for communication, sometime panel can use Hindi..the best way to communicate at the time of Interview is as per the pannel, the language panel asked you a question ,if you reply in a same language it not only give good impression but give you extra points as well.. Talking in a mother tounge in your case Tamil will be possible only if you got selected for Tamil State and your panel is asking you question in Tamil or else not possible...All the Best!!

the interview panel might not understand your mother tongue as they might be from all over the country. It's advisable to communicate in English. If you face problems in english than you may enroll in courses like http://www.wiziq.com/course/1208-eng...o-written-exam that costs just Rs250 and provides you with all the knowledge.

Interview is most impotent part and your communication skill is matter in front of interview panel. English language will be used for communication, sometime panel can use Hindi..the best way to communicate at the time of Interview is as per the pannel, the language panel asked you a question ,if you reply in a same language it not only give good impression but give you extra points as well.
Don't hesitate even if you are doing mistake but you have to be clear with your point and say whatever you want but in full confidence.

Re: Job options for candidates, who have passed IBPS Clerk exam? Is it allowed to speak in mother tongue in the interview test?

dear i would like to make you aware of the fact that at clerical level candidates who belongs to the local district or state are preferred to be posted in the same area. like if you belongs to tamil nadu then you will be posted any where in tamil nadu .. it is because clerks are the first employees of bank who directly interacts with customers....

now coming on to the your point of job options for candidates who passed IBPS clerk exam - dear actualy the exam itself depicts that you are qualifies in written exam which is conducted for clerical jobs in banks... so it is not at all valid for any other jobs... though you may be given sub functions in a bank like teller, loans, foreign exchange, corporate account maintenance etc etc...

secondly, during interview if interviewer asks you that in which language you are comfortable in then you can present your choice of Tamil otherwise you have to answer in the same language interviewer asks (As a best rule to be followed in an interview)

you can work on your English meanwhile you get a call for interview from any of the bank...

    best of luck....

Re: Job options for candidates, who have passed IBPS Clerk exam? Is it allowed to speak in mother tongue in the interview test?

You boy, Honestly speaking Your question is a bit absurd!!

I mean, How could you expect this?
Obviously You have to Speak in English or Hindi.
You can speak in Tamil only if your panel is Tamil.
English is a better option because It is an official language.
And Hindi is your national language.
But "In spite with respecting your mother Tough" I must say
You should not think in that way.
I think you have a bit problem with English.
If you have Then Improve it.Read English newspaper, English movies , lesson English songs.
Try to speak in English .Your English will automatically Improve. But do not try to avoid it.

Now comes to opportunities for you.

==BANKS You CAN Apply Are Given Here==

    Bank of India
    Bank of Baroda
    Bank of Maharashtra
    Canara Bank
    Central Bank of India
    Corporation Bank
    Dena Bank

    Indian Overseas Bank
