Re: How should i approach a government sector job?

Being a computer science student you have a very good scope in the government sectors because in the government sectors now every thing is changed into the computerized so you have a very good scope in banking, railways, postal etc.,.
You should regularly watch the newspapers and the government website and other job offering websites then it is easy to get the job.
For all the government related jobs you should write the entrance exam and you must attend the interview.
    Good luck............

Re: How should i approach a government sector job?

For govt job your approach is first need to .register in sarkarinaukri.com & check employment newspaper /national newspaper for notification..my suggestion is to try in private sector as well , after completing Computer Science major you have various number of job openings like Software Engineer, Network Engineer, Web Designer/Developer, Programmer and so on... the minimum salary if you are going to work in a MNC company with B.Tech-CSE degree will come around 2.5-3.5 lakhs per annum.. and if you gain some experience like 2-3 yrs then the salary will be 3.5-5lakhs per annum and above which depends with your performance... and if you are going to work in some of the dream companies like GOOGLE, YAHOO, FACEBOOK etc. you will get a salary of 5-8 lakhs per annum

Re: How should i approach a government sector job?

Getting a job abroad immediately after B.tech in Computer Science is very difficult. it would be better that you work in India for 1-2 years and then go for a job in foreign countries. After gaining experience you can contact some agencies and consultancies to help you find a job abroad. the agent/agency/consultancy will contact companies in this regard. It will be a better option if you opt for MBA.Still if you are so inclined for getting a job, you must examine the syllabus and pattern, try few mock tests to analyze your strength and weaknesses, analyze past year papers of related exam, and work on your weaknesses to obtain a healthy and balanced score.

    All the best!!!

Re: How should i approach a government sector job?

    thats great
so you are all set for an IT job.

engineering graduates have a really better chances to crack IT companies written test if they secured decent percentage in their engineering.
I would advise you to go for higher studies , if you want to , to enhance your career prospects or atleast go for some technical course like JAVA , .NET , VB from NIFT , APTECH etc.
companies will definitely give you preference as compared to other candidates.
steps that you need to follow to apply for IT jobs are :-

    1) prepare a strong and eye catching CV and post it on " naukri , monster , shine 2 websites and apply online
    2) " the ascent " of 2 times of india 2 is a really good newspaper in terms of S/W jobs.
    3) try visiting recruitment pages of all IT companies in your city and try contacting their HR personnel to know what are their requirements and how can you apply
4)develop rich contacts so that they can refer you to good companies

    5) consult a consultant if need be , they are really helpful
    all the best
