If you are applying for the posts in regard to B.Tech, then your B.Tech marks will be necessary. The minimum marks to apply is 65% for General and OBC category..If you are applying for M.Tech, then there your B.Tech marks will not have that much importance as there only the GATE score will be considered primarily.

In PSUs like ISRO,DRDO,NTPC,SAIL.....etc, you can apply for the jobs, like

    Junior research fellow
    senior research fellow
    Project assistant
    Technical assistant.........etc

For this jobs you should have agregate more than 60%
Some companies need more than 65-70%

Recently ISRO has recruited Scientist & engineer posts
For that the company noticed the eligibility as more than 65%

So it is better to have more than 70%

With M.Tech qualification also you can get same kind of jobs

    All the best

Dear Friend, If you belonging to General and OBC categories, you should have secured minimum 65% marks in qualifying degree examinations. They considered 50% marks for Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) /People With Disability (PWD) candidates. You need to appear a competitive test and interview. Some companies like IOCL , BARC are calling students for interview based on their GATE score, not all of them are following the procedure because companies like ONGC and NTPC conduct their own tests which has two parts, one technical and other aptitude but as per the notification released in 2012 most of the PSUs are taking through GATE .After qualifying in GATE exam with an excellent score you can expect yourself to get into any of these PSU's. If you able to secure an excellent score in GATE exam then they will call you for the interview.
Yes ,M.Tech degree will be beneficial if you have not got good aggregate in B.Tech and scored well in M.Tech then also you get change in these PSUs

Re: How much percentage is required in B.Tech degree for applying for jobs in PSUs like BHEL, SAIL, NTPC? Is there any benefit of pursuing M.Tech after B.Tech?

actually , b.tech is enough to apply for a good post in core companies

generally , to get a job with b.tech as qualification in core companies like BHEL , NTPC , SAIL , GAIL , etc.. there are two ways

    1) if you are gate ranker , then you are eliglible directly for the interview round in the company
the recuiters of the company will call you for the interview
the interview questions will also be asked form your core subjects only

    ( or )

    2) if you are not a gate ranker , then you are eliglible to apply for the entrance exam only when you are having 65% in your b.tech
so, you should have a minimum of 65% in your b.tech

    the selection process is ,
    1) entrance exam
    2) interview

actually , with b.tech only , you will have good posts in core companies

with m.tech from a recognised university and with a good percentage , you can apply for senior posts in these companies

    all the best

To Applying these core companies you will be to the filling the exam of GATE after appearing on the GATE exam You should take the company's entrance exam which is conducted by the company and after appear on it you can call for the interview and on the basis of your interview you would be selected for the job. Minimum percentage is required for applying PSUs jobs is 65% in B.tech or BE for general and obc category candidates.
And if you are applying for GATE your Btech marks don't have much significance.
These companies also recruits the candidates on the basis of good GATE score.
Mtech is obviously beneficial after Btech because after pursuing Mtech from a NITs ,IITs and other recognized Universities, you can apply for higher positions in companies or Engineering institutes and get paid a handsome amount of salary.
    So Best of Luck

Yes you can definitely apply for PSUs entrance exams. It requires minimum 65% or 6.5 CGPA in your Btech degree.
You can also prepare for the GATE in your stream because many PSUs hires on the basis of your GATE score.
like 75% from your GATE score and 25% from Interview.
After a good rank in GATE you can also pursue Mtech from NITs or IITs or from a recognized university.
    Best of Luck

Re: How much percentage is required in B.Tech degree for applying for jobs in PSUs like BHEL, SAIL, NTPC? Is there any benefit of pursuing M.Tech after B.Tech?

    HI.......

65% is required to apply in these psu companies. As you are a B.Tech graduate you should have more than 65% in your degree to apply for these companies.

other than that if you have appeared in GATE exam then GATE exam then you can also sit in these companies interviews directly then your GATE score card is needed. You have to clear cut off marks to sit into interviews and they may also short list the students.

If you go M.Tech from a good institute like IIT's then you have better chance of job as well as package of the job will be higher as compare to B.Tech graduate.
Also you can apply for a higher post if you done M.Tech.

so yer M.Tech will be benificial but again it depend on your personal qualification. you should have good % to sit into the interview. so if want to go for M.Tech you should work hard in your M.Tech.
    good luck
