for a 10 point grading system:

    CGPA*8.82=Equivalent percentage.
Eg: If CGPA is 9.00, then the equivalent percentage = 9.00*8.82=79.4%

Re: How to convert CGPA into percentage?

Dear Friend, It depends on the criteria of the university like in IPU if your CGPA is 8.50 then you have 2 multiply your CGPA with 8.50 from a scale 0-10 grade then your total percentage calculated as 8.5/10*100 = 85%. Generally most of the University calculate CGPA like if you score 7.54 in 10 point scale then your % will be just (7.54-.75)*10=67.90%. if you get 9.99 or even 10 but when you will convert it to percentage it will just become 92.5%.

Re: How to convert CGPA into percentage?

just deduct 0.75 from your cgpa(7.54).then multiply it with100.

    Sol. 7.54-0.75=6.79*100=67.90%(Shortcut)
Note 1: If a Grade point system is adopted, the GPA will be converted into equivalent marks as given below:
    Grade point % of marks
    6.25 55
    6.75 60
    7.25 65
    7.75 70
    8.25 75

This is given in AICTE web site.

    - Cumulative Grade Point Average is an overall indicative percentage of marks.
    - to calculate percentage from cgpa, multiply by 9.5 with CGPA
    - We only multiply by 9.5 b'coz The Board took the result of the last five years and calculated the average marks of all candidates who had scored between 91 and 100. That average turned out to be close to 95 marks. Since the equivalent Grade Point for the 91-100 band (A1 grade) of marks is 10, it then divided the average result of 95 by 10. The result is 9.5.

    Hello Dear

For understanding this you need to remember the definition of few terms like C.G.P.A ,G.P.A etc. The usual method of conversion is provided in the University Website itself. So you better look for it.Don't use any other formula. You have to strictly follow the conversion formula prescribed by your own university. This conversion formula may differ from one university to other.

Try to understand this example. Before understanding the conversion process ,you need to know how C.G.P.A is generated or calculated.

C.G.P.A stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average. For every semester you get a Grade point average (G.P.A). GPA of all the semesters is later on accumulated to aggregate the C.G.P.A.

let us say you have 7 grades in your university starting from O=10, E=9, A=8, B=7,C=6,D=5,F=2.Assume that there are 3 subject named Apple ,banana, coconut in you 1 semester. You have secured "E" in Apple which is 3 credit course,You scored "A" in Banana which is a 3 credit course and similarly you scored ''O'' in Coconut which is a credit 2 subject.

Now Your GPA will be = (summation of credit x score)/ (credit)
    GPA = [(3x9)+(3x8)+(2x10)]/(3+3+2)
    GPA for this semester = 71/8 = 8.875 .

Suppose in your 2nd semester , you scored 9 GPA for a total of 7 credits

    then, your C.G.P.A = [(8.875x8) +(9x7)]/ (8+7)
    => C.G.P.A = 8.9333

So far you learned how C.G.P.A is being generated. Now I will tell you how to convert C.G.P.A to Percentage. As I have said earlier, the formula is predefined by your university. You just need to add your C.G.P.A marks and convert it. You don't have to create your own formula.

For example- For a students under the 4-point credit system, the procedure is (C.G.P.A X 18) + 20 = Equivalent percentage

    Which means If your C.G.P.A is 3.00, then the equivalent percentage would be = (3.00 X 18)+20 = 74%

NOTE : If the University doesn't releases the conversion formula and credit details then the students have to strictly follow the conversion formula accredited by A.I.C.T.E which is given below
    AICTE_logo.jpg

    EQUIVALENT PERCENTAGE = (C.G.P.A -0.75) X 100

I hope you are very much clear with all these procedures now.Anyways best of luck for a bright Future

    Regards

Re: How to convert CGPA into percentage?

Hello friend the cgpa to percent and percent conversion is depend on the criteria of universities. The different universities have their different criteria of calculation for example National Institute Of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER) calculate percentage by following formula

    % marks = CGPA * 8.5

Similarly some colleges/ universities calculate by using following formula

    % marks = CGPA * 9.5

Since you have not mentioned any college/ university so your CGPA in point scale for 57.12% would be

    57.12/8.5 = 6.01 CGPA

Hi,As per Anna university If your CGPA is 7.0 you have to multiply it by 10.i.e 7.0 * 10=70%.
Likewise, whatever your CGPA be,just multiply it by 10.because Anna university is having 10 point grade scale..

    • CGPA refers to Cumulative Grade Point Average.
    • It's an easy to convert the CGPA into the Percentage of marks.
    • But the conversion criteria may differs from university to university.
    • Every universities official website has provided the conversion method.
    • Generally the CGPA is multiplied by 9.5 to get into the percentage.
    • If you CGPA is 7 then your percentage will be 7*9.5=66.5%
    • Apart from above this formula- (C.G.P.A -0.75) X 10 is also used.

Calculating CGPA differs from University to university and the method adopted is also decided the way that university calculates so it is very difficult to tell you the method of every university

But General Method is like this :-

Just Deduct 7.5 from your score and then multiply it by 10
    You will get your percentage

    Hope it will help

    Hi
For converting the CGPA into percentage, you just need to multiply your CGPA with the factor of 10.
For example, if you are having a CGPA of 7.2 , then to convert it into percentage, you need to multiply it with 10. And your percentage will be 72%

Re: How to convert CGPA into percentage?

Every university have pre defined rules for converting CGPA into percentage.

For example in GTU ( Gujarat Technological University ) have below rule for converting CGPA into percentage.

    (CGPA-0.5)*10%

In your mark sheet it may be possible that on the back side the conversion formula also be there so you can check it also.

You can go to your university web site for getting exact details.

You can also ask to your college authority for getting solution of your problem.

    thank you...

Re: How to convert CGPA into percentage?

    dear aspirant

different university uses different criteria for converting CGPA into percentage , some of them are :

    1. (CGPA-0.5)*10 %

    2.multiplying cgpa with 9.5

for example if cgpa is 8.96 then 8.96*9.5= 85.12%
    so your %ge is 85.12%

    3. deduct your cgpa by 0.75 and multiply it by 10 you will get it in %ge value

you will have to visit the official page of organisations for which you are applying for as every organisation don't have some system of conversion

    good luck
