If you are from General category or OBC category (creamy),then you are not eligible for many of the exams as most of the public sector exams requires 60% marks in BE.You can still apply for exams conducted by UPSC,State PSCs for PWD,Irrigation etc, some of the State electricity boards.
You can check out the advertisements at Employment news or job sites as durgajobs.com etc for your satisfaction about the % required.PSUs generally recruits candidates with above 60% marks or sometimes even 65% marks.
As you are a passout of 2006,you must be having good experience in your field and so you can apply for senior posts and not as fresher. There you will have some relaxation in marks.

Government jobs for the B.Tech :
B.tech students get the jobs in the both government and private sectors....
In the governmnet sectors jobs you have to write the entrance exam held under the departments like Defense, UPSC, SSC, BANk, Railways etc....gor the selection in posts...

job posts under these departments are follows:

CIvil services like: IAS, IPS , IEs etc through the entrance test held by the UPSC.

Defense services like Indian army, indian navy, airforce etc through the CDs entrance exam held by the UPSC.

Bank jobs like PO, Clerk, IT, Technical etc jobs through the IBPS exam..

RAilways jobs like junior engineer etc through the RRB exam.

BSNl job posts like nuior telecom officer etc through the JTO exam.

BHEL, ONGC, NTPC, Power GRid etc through the GATE exam conducted by the IIts.

    ISRO job posts

    DRDO job posts etc....

so you can apply these job posts through the entrance exam held by the own government departments ...

    Thank you!

dear though this percentage is not enough for various exam but you can make application for Bank exams, civil services, few Railway Exams (engineer & junior engineers), but PSU's such as SAIL, GAIL, ONGC, IOCL, NTPC, NPCIL, etc asks for minimum 60% marks

if you belongs to reservation category then you can apply in PSU as well as for reserved category minimum required marks is 55%.
