    IPS stands for Indian Police Service.To become an IPS officer,you should appear for civil service exam. Civil Service exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) every year once to take qualified students into different service post in government sector.

    Academic Qualification :

    * You must be a graduate in any of the streams from a recognized university.
    *Appearing in the final year of bachelor degree program are also eligible for IPS exam.

    Nationality
    Candidate must be a citizen of India.

    *This exam is conducted everyyear by UPSC.Candidate needs to face three phasas of the examination.

    1.Preliminary exam (civil service aptitude test)
    2.Main examination
    3. Interview

    Age limit: min max
    General- 21yrs. 30 yrs.
    obc - 21 yrs 33 yrs.
    sc/st - 21 yrs. 35 yrs.

    Number of attempts :

    The number of attempts can vary based on the Reservation your have i.e
    - General candidates: four attempts.
    - Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction.
    - Other Backward Classes: seven attempts.
    Physical Fitness:

    Physical Fitness Is very Important for IPS Exam.
    Male 165 Cm Pahari Male (General also) & ST (Not SC/OBC) - 160 Cm.
    Female 150 Cm Pahari female (General also) & ST (Not SC/OBC) - 145 Cm.

    Pattern of the exam

    1.The preliminary examination consists of two papers:

    Paper I -- General Studies which carry 150 marks
    Paper II -- An Optional subject which carry 300 marks

    2.MAINS exam Consists of the following papers:

    Paper I - One Indian language (selected by the candidate) of 300 marks
    Paper II - English of 300 marks
    Paper III - Essay of 200 marks
    Paper IV&V - General Studies of 300 marks each
    Paper VI-IX - 4 optional paper each of 300 marks

    Each paper will be of 3 hours duration.

    Syllabus for Preliminary exam is given below-

    Indian and World Geography
    Indian Polity and governance

    To become an IPS Officer you have to appear in the UPSC Civil Services Exams

    Minimum eligibilty to apply for the UPSC Civil Services exams is:

    Education: Graduation pass in any stream from a recognized university
    No minimum percentage of marks is required in Graduation

    Age- Minimum 21 years
    Maximum 30 years
    OBC can apply till 33 years
    SC/ST can apply till 35 years

    Attempts/Chances: UPSC has also fixed number of attempts
    General- 4 times
    OBC-7 times
    SC/ST-No Restrictions

    UPSC Civil Services Exams are held in three stages:
    Prelims
    MAINS
    Interview

    Next prelims exams would be held in 24th August 2014
    Notification will come out on 17th May 2014

    First you can go through the Eligibility criteria once


    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :


    >> You must complete the Graduation from a Recognized university in any discipline

    >> The Age should be in between 21 to 30 years

    >> The Students who are Qualified for the IAS or IFS are not Eligible to apply for the IPS

    >> Every candidates has Maximum 4 Attempts ,and there is a Relaxation for the SC/ST candidates about 7 attempts


    Coming to Pattern you will have Total 9 papers


    Paper I : Language Exam

    Paper II : General English

    Paper III : Essay

    Paper IV and V : General Studies

    Paper VI , VII and VIII : Optional subject



    First Two are the Optional subjects and the Remaining three are the descriptive type Questions

    Here are the Eligibilities For IPS :

    -> 3 years for OBC

    -> 5 years for SC/ST

    No. Of Attempts :

    Below are the required details and eligibility criteria for IPS

    Exam Date : Prelim in 1st week of May & Mains in 2nd week of Oct

    Eligibility Criteria :

    1.Age limit

    21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing.
    Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs .
    Ex-servicemen will get 5 more years exemption from the prescribed age limit

    2.Number of Attempts

    Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs.
    If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.

    3.Restrictions on applying for the examination:

    A candidate who is appointed to the Indian Administrative Service or the Indian Foreign Service on the results of an earlier examination and continues to be a member of that service will not be eligible to compete at this examination.

    4. Minimum Physical Standard

    The physical standards are important for the job profile and the rigorous training at the NPA, which includes weekly run for 10 k.m. in 60 minutes, route march for 25 k.m. UAC, Horse riding, rock climbing, assault course, PT obstacles, rope climbing etc.

    To become an IPS officer you have to write Civil service exam conducted by UPSC

    To apply for this exam the candidate must have the following eligibility

    Educational qualification : Graduation from a recognized university
    Age limit : 21 - 30 years
    Age relaxation is applicable for reservation candidates
    For SC/ST candidates the relaxation is 5 years
    For OBC candidates the relaxation is up to 3 years

    For this exam you have to apply through online from the website www.upsconline.nic.in

    The selection process contains the following steps

    1. Preliminary test
    2. Main exam
    3. Personal Interview

    The written exam is on the following subjects

    Language selected by the candidate
    English language
    General studies

    Well, IPS stands for Indian Police Service. IPS exam is a part of civil service exam conducted by the UPSC or union Public Service Commission, India. The following is the eligibility criteria for IPS exam in India,

    1. You should be an Indian Citizen.
    2. Age limit should be between 21-30 years.
    3. A Graduate degree from a recognized university in India is required for IPS exam.
    4. A general candidate can sit for IPS exam 4 times and SC/ST candidates 7 times.


    IPS exam Syllabus:

    IPS Exam consists of total 9 papers based on different topics which are mentioned below

    there are 4 chance for General category

    7 chance OBC & SC/ST category

    There are conduct three papers

    1-objective

    2-mains

    3-interview

    then after selection.

    ips stands for indian police services, it's exam is conducted under civil services by upsc,

    upsc conducts ips exams along with the following :

    1. Indian administration service
    2.Indian police services
    3. Indian forest services

    eligibility for ips exam :

    must be a citizen of India
