You are eligible to appear in GATE exam.GATE does not have any restriction on marks basis. It is the companies recruiting through GATE and some of the institutes who intake candidates for M.Tech puts restriction further. You can apply for GATE with no problem in your Intermediate marks.Intermediate marks may become obstacle in IT companies or sometimes Electronics companies. Most of the Mechanical or Civil companies does not checks intermediate marks.Government exams does not checks Intermediate marks. So you can go for GATE and secure your future.

GATE does not have restriction on Intermediate marks.Nor does the PSUs recruiting through GATE.In fact GATE does not have any restriction based on marks be it matric, intermediate or graduation marks. But the PSUs recruiting through GATE have some restrictions in engineering marks such as NTPC,BHEL asks for 65 % in B.Tech level alongwith GATE score. You can apply for GATE but you may miss out on few of the PSUs but there are several others as IOCL,GAIL,HPCL etc which asks for 60% in B.Tech with GATE score.

Re: Am i eligible for GATE Entrance exam with 58% marks in 10+2?

    My dear friend,

The percentage does not matter for GATE entrance exam.As GATE stands for graduate aptitude test for engineering and it is an entrance exam that is to be used to get an admission in M.TECH.

It is an entrance exam that is done after completion of graduation in either pharmacy, engineering or MCA etc.Means the professional courses are eligible for GATE.Mostly the students give the GATE entrance to get an admission in M.TECH.

M.TECH stands for Masters in Technology and it is the post graduation course which is done after completion of graduation either after B.TECH or B.E.Your marks should be more than 50% marks from B.TECH.

    10-gate2013.jpg

In last semester i.e.7th or 8th ,the application forms for GATE are released and after that the examination will be held in February. Then after the result will be declared in March.

Then the admission is on the basis of GATE.You can also get an admission in M.TECH on the basis of university own entrance rank.

    Thank u!!

    hi
GATE is the entrance exam which is conducted by the IITs for the admission in various colleges in the country for M.Tech courses (including IIT).
There is no requirement to show the marks obtained in class 12th in order to appear in the GATE exam. The eligibility of giving the GATE exam is that you should be a graduate from an engineering stream or from the science stream and you should be having a minimum of 55% marks in your graduation. The minimum age limit to give the exam is 21 years and there is no upper age limit described to give the exam.
And as there is no consideration of class 12th marks in GATE exam, therefore you are elgibile of giving the exam

GATE ie. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering ...

12th percentage really doesn't matter for appearing in GATE examination. The one which matters, is the percentage that u got in ur B.tech, AND ITS WELL GoodD.
As far as minimmu qualification for GATE is concerned, it is 60%. So if u have got 62%, u can very well well appear in GATE. The criteria for many PSU's is also around 60%(though it varies from company to company). This is best tym for u, prepare for GATE, qualify it with good ranks and u can get a very well paid job in the govt. sector.

    All d very best..!!
