Mechanical is an evergreen branch so dont you worry about the scope and future with in the trade. However let me also tell you that you can seek in other fields like IT, ECE, EEE as well even with your mech degree as companies need engg aptitude and sharp mind. They equip you with the working knowledge and technologies.
As you have 2 more years for your graduation so you need to focus on the study first. 70-75% marks would be good to get you interview calls and resume selection.

Hey....Hello....70% is more than sufficient to sit in any company whether private or public....but to get into a good IT company you need to have good good communication skills and you should be confident while facing interview....if you have these two skills than you can apply in any company and got selected for it.....and the most important thing is this that you are doing engineering in mechanical field which is the core branch in B.Tech and it will make it little easier for you to get a job in good company or by clearing GATE you can get a job in government sector also....some companies which recruit mechanical graduates are.....
    1.JINDAL STEEL
    2.TATA MOTORS
    3.NTPC
    4.BHEL
    5.RAILWAYS
    6.DEFENSE

Yes its sufficient generally companies demand for 60% but its very early to say because you have to face your upcoming semesters which is quite difficult and could disturb your percentage.
Its better to concentrate on your studies and complte your 3rd year with good percentage and dont worry about the branch you chosen.
Mechanical is ever green branch and has huge scope in automobile, construction, PSU's etc
